With the re-edition of Gertrude Stein‘s text „Descriptions of Literature“, published 1926, the Institut für Buchkunst Leipzig locates itself in a historical continuity of „thinking about books“. Initiated by Günter Karl Bose and Julia Blume, the re-edition pursues the goal of making Stein‘s work more visible and demonstrating its continuing relevance. The visual re-interpretation sensitively takes up the typography, format and colour of the original leaflet and highlights its linguistic characteristics.

The exhibition is based on the book „ON / OFF STAGE, Textproben“. The content and editorial design of the book was translated into the room. Visitors at Bauhaus Dessau's „Bauhaus 100“ were invited to enter the screenplay and explore the book.
